i've got an hp pavilion ze4101 laptop.

i heard somewhere that if you use it(any laptop in general) most of the time running from the ac that you should take the battery out completely. well i was wondering if that is the best thing to do. is this right or should i run if from the ac and leave the battery in?

as you probably have guessed, this is my first laptop and i have no idea what will hurt it and what is the best for it.

(emailed hp about it a week ago and they haven't responded yet).

thanks for the info.

Heard anything? I also have a HP laptop, but I always just leave the battery in when it's connected to the AC. I haven't unplugged it from the AC cord in awhile; for all I know the battery is dead and won't hold a charge...

That is correct. I burned out a compaq battery that way and now it won't hold a charge. I am typing this reply now on a Sony Vaio and very rarely do I ever put the battery in when I am plugged into power. I pop it in sometimes, maybe once every couple of months, just to make sure that it still takes a charge and it has yet to let me down.

Hope this helps some

/JD
