Make sure that the floppy disk is connected properly to the controller on the motherboard. Also ensure that the pins and wires are properly aligned and seated.

Check your MB still has the 40 pins standing for your Floppy cable.?

This newer MB has the floppy pins dropped of easily and not meant to last !

My older MB has 3 pins missing.. !

Hi Folks, Floppy Cables only use 34 pins. Some cables have one Pin blocked so it must be missing on the MOBO. That is done so you cannot (Easily) connect the cable Backwards. The Red Stripe should go to Pin #1 on the MOBO connector and also on the Floppy Drive.

cowdirt is right. u cannot use your pri, sec, or any ata ide channels for the floppy. the only prob is, make sure you have your cable pluged in the right way. You would know this because, if it is wrong, the floppy disk light remains on always and never shuts off. If there is on the cable say a pin hole not there, just press the cable against the floppy driver pretty hard to punture a hole in the floppy cable (the Black Connector) I had to do it and didnt have a problem. Also make sure that power cable is plugged in sometimes its hard to see depending on the devices you have arond it and possible not all power wires are plugged in.
