Printing a file contents

Does anyone know how to printout the contents of a folder such as "My Music" ? I would like to make a list; but don't want to retype all the names. Is it possible?

open a dos window, cd to the dir, and type:

dir >somefile.txt

that will place the output of the dir command in somefile.txt in the my music folder

and if you want it to search directories below those and include the files in subfolders too, append a /s after the dir

There is a utility called Karens Printdir. Runs in windows any version from win95 to XP. It can be manipulated to print almost anything, but definitely the content if a folder

Microsoft has a way to do just this without adding any addition software. Check out this link to the knowledge base article #321379: How To: Add a "Print Directory" Feature for Folders in Windows XP. Here is where it is located:

Please keep in mind that this is only a basic directory printer, you may need additional software if you want more features that this offers.

ok the microsoft trick works but now if i click twice on a file it will open the comand prompt only,to be able to open it i have to right click and open to work .what wrong did i do here.

Fares. I had to add the registry information to mine to get it to work properly. Did you do that to yours?

Once you add the registry info, you simply click on the file menu and you will see"Print file directory". Works well.
