Actually, Microsoft has not put any disabling ability in the new service pack. The current outlook is that even though someone may be using a pirated version, everyone requires protection from malicious code.
I tested this theory on a spare machine, and the machine is still working.
Furthermore, an email from MS in regards to this situation has been distributed.
Hi,
Well I don't trust M$ for one second.
There is an easy fix to the XP Corp SP2 2126 slipstream CD install.
If this changes prior to the XP SP2 Final release, they have tampered with what they said
they wouldn't.
I own 2 XP Home and 2 XP Pro original, genuine and purchased by me versions, but prefer using XP Corp due to the bl??dy activation crap. I simply despise it.
How many times have you had a dud XP install, no idea why, you try activating your XP twice in one day, or 3 times in a month, you can't unless you ring M$ up and get a code to enter.
Hate it, hate it
