Alternative To Windows Update

I've discovered a way get the latest security patches for Windows 2003 without using Windows Update:

Get the Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer:

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sec...s/mbsahome.asp
Then tick "Check for security updates" and untick the rest.

If there are any missing patches just hit the "Result details" link and manually download the patch(es).

Very neat. I've been using the Windows Update Fixer for updates - this looks cleaner.

Finally, something that actually works. I've been using the Update Fixer and it lets me into the Windows Update, but doesn't display any updates, when I know there are some available!!

no, but patches are there for reading about them...and for downloading...
