"no drive entries found!..." Boot Error
Hi,

I need some help to solve a minor problem with a WXP SP2 system. Everytime the system is booted I get the following error message on the same screen that shows up when you do a boot time CHKDSK operation:

no drive entries found!...

After a few seconds, the screen clears and the rest of the bootup occurs normally. I have searched the MS knowledge base without finding any references to this error. Perhaps someone here knows what it is and how to fix it.

I think the problem started when I rebooted the system with my 256 Meg flash drive still plugged in (FAT16 format). It detected a problem with the drive and did a CHKDSK operation on it during the reboot. I unplugged the flash drive later before shutting the system down. Ever since then, the above error has shown up during bootup. I have tried rebooting with the flash drive plugged in to see if that would fix the error, but it didn't help.

Thanks for any help you guys can offer.

Tomboy

Hey,

Run registery editor, regedit and go to:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Session Manager]

And look for the value BootExecute.

Make sure it is just:

autocheck autochk *

@war59312,

Thanks! That was exactly the problem! There was some extra stuff in this key. Resetting the value to "autocheck autochk *" eliminated the boot error. Thanks for the help.
