"no drive entries found!..." Boot Error
Hi,
I need some help to solve a minor problem with a WXP SP2 system. Everytime the system is booted I get the following error message on the same screen that shows up when you do a boot time CHKDSK operation: no drive entries found!... After a few seconds, the screen clears and the rest of the bootup occurs normally. I have searched the MS knowledge base without finding any references to this error. Perhaps someone here knows what it is and how to fix it. I think the problem started when I rebooted the system with my 256 Meg flash drive still plugged in (FAT16 format). It detected a problem with the drive and did a CHKDSK operation on it during the reboot. I unplugged the flash drive later before shutting the system down. Ever since then, the above error has shown up during bootup. I have tried rebooting with the flash drive plugged in to see if that would fix the error, but it didn't help. Thanks for any help you guys can offer. Tomboy |
Hey,
Run registery editor, regedit and go to: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Session Manager] And look for the value BootExecute. Make sure it is just: autocheck autochk * |
@war59312,
Thanks! That was exactly the problem! There was some extra stuff in this key. Resetting the value to "autocheck autochk *" eliminated the boot error. Thanks for the help. Tomboy |
