Changed my mind. It's Gentoo all the way. It's a source-based distro and it's not the easiest distro in the world, but I like it a lot.

Just installed Mandrake 8.2. Pretty cool so far. EAsy config, at least for internet conection through my router.

I couldn't seem to figure out how to configure the LAN with Mandrake 8.2

SuSE has a configuration utility, but I'm not having any success seeing the LAN, even tho I am hooked up to the 4 port router, access it's setup screen and internet connection.

Red Hat all the way - I had that and mandrake, have'nt tried suse yet, but from Red Hat and Mandrake - it is diff Red hat for me.

Anybody on this thread using their machine on a lan?

Just installed Red Hat 7.3 and see it has evern better netword configuration utilities, but I still haven't figured it out.

Not yet, but I will be setting it up soon.

There is a networking how-to you can follow. Go to [link]www.tldp.org[/link] and search for "networking".

Slackware 8.1 just came out, I understand. fxp.slackware.com/pub/slackware/slackware-8.1-iso/. Can't seem to log on their ftp, must be busy. Any opinions about Slackware?
