Dudelive, you may have seen the new announcement here on BetaONE about the new release of Ubuntu Linux. There are two free downloads on their site: the install disk and a Ubuntu Live disk that runs the distro from the CD.

It's a very slick easy system, tho when I installed the install disk on my Toshiba laptop (my test machine) it did not automatically bring up the MS network. Nor does it have a DVD/CD burn feature included, which Xandros does. This is a very nice distro and worth a litttle time to look it over. It's Debian.

Perhaps the Enterpirse edition has the features I need (network and burner) Or maybe they can be installed from the web site--I haven't taken the time to check out the web site or it's forum.

I'm going to clean it out tho and put Xandros 3.0 Deluxe back in

Well! THings keep moving. I'm not inspired by Ubuntu, but I really get a kick out of the Live version of Linspire. Not a bad release and it mounts all the drives plus the MS network. I'm impressed. The "Live" version is a free download from Linspire or the bittorent link they give you.
