MY point is Lindows is not Open Source! Check their Wine emulation libraries they are closed source. Whereas Debian/Mandrake/Slackware is fully open source and Suse's only problem is Yast2 which has a Aladdin Public License which is not really open source but the core system is still open source.
Lindows wont make your life easier. Install it you will have less security than a typical Windows box it runs as root! Which all the people advise "You never run a *nix box as root!"
Ok clear now?

I read that Lindows is based on the Debian distribution, all gusied up with the Wine stuff, bien sur.
I agree Mandrake 9.0 is the coolest distro right now for old time MS/DOS type people (like me). Anxious to try out the RedHat 8.0 due out tomorrow.
The distros are "free" but gee it would be nice to have the purchased manuals. You can get various docs from internet sources, but it's tough work to cross-train to Linux from years of DOS/Windows experience.

Lindows is Linux, it runs the Linux kernel like all other distributions.
It is not open source though, according to CARTMAN.

According to me? Please show me their source for their *own* wine libraries and I will go away and say Lindows is open source.

I am not disreputing the fact that Lindows is not open-sourced. I just don't follow the development of Lindows and so don't read much about. Therefore I can only assume that it is not open source.
I am just trying to be poilitically correct.

Bah, just use Windows and a Linux Distro dual boot, or use VMWare if you need to switch between the OS.

I have found a distro of choice, that I think is better than Windows. Therefore why should I use it?
