Thought about trying out a totally different OS other than Windows......although I'll probably chicken out and keep windows so my configurations won't be messed up. BUT.....if I wanted to try it out at some point.......should I pick Lindows or Linux? Maybe Unix is better? I need some opinions and the Pro'scon's of each.
Thanks
TCM

Good point that Lindows is not a real linux and that will probably will give you more security problems than windows because its comes with root account by default. I would suggest using Mandrake/Suse Linux both are good Linux distributions with known as easy installation/administration....

You keep saying Lindows is not real Linux, ok then who is Deb., Redhat, slackware, Mandrake, and there are a bunch more, who is the true linux and why?? Mandrake also asks for a root and so does redhat...

If you wanna something like Lindows, just install linux and Winne or WinneX. Lindows is whole mountain of crap, all together... and all linux distros (for now) are free, lindows, no

What can't answer, that is a good non-answer, yes I can download linux for free but I usually pay for it when I buy it at the store...

Debian/Slackware/Mandrake/Suse etc are real Linuxes on the other hand Lycoris/Lindows are not real Linux all they try to is to imitate Windows somehow and thats not ok. Linux is well known for security and they break most of the security issues when trying to imitate Windows.
And they are not fully open source they got many closed source parts which doesnt make them true Linux in my opinion. Well this is just *my* thoughts

is the source available for Lindows, why yes, yes it is, the idea behind Lindows is not to emulate windows, but somehow get lindows to run windows based software, I mean i though that was what wine was all about.. so the question still stands why is lindows not linux???

uhh what happened up there? I never made any of those posts
Technically Lindows is Linux, it uses the Linux kernel. However, graphically, Lindows immitates Windows which is the point CARTMAN is trying to make. This is to make it easier for Windows users to migrate more comfortably to Linux.

Lindows gave up that boat, the object now is to make it user friendly, and try to run windows apps..
and graphically they are all in the same boat.. at least suse and mandrake are since those are the ones I use
