Since you vid card has TV out usally you can pick up used 19" -25" TV's mega cheap I know that the picture quality is not the same butb Plasma screens will drop to around $100 bucks this x-mas. Then you can have the best of both worlds.
The same thing with DVD-Burners. Watch and see, But buy your RAM now I don't know as much about Intel Mobo's but I know that the sockect A Mobo, Your better to run (2) 256MB DDR of the the same brand is faster than one 512MB stick alone. Not sure if the same is true of the P4.
