o.k i put in the pci slot, rebooted , then pnp says new device, sblive... has been detected

but then it says installation has failed data is invalid....

i got new xp drivers cause my os is xp devilsown....

so is thhe card broken or what, its a recent mobo too.. etc..

my last sound card worked o.k ... just a 4 channel one..

any suggestions plz ... ?

i got to much pirated stuff to take too shop to fix as well

pcservicetech is an unknown quantity at this point
There have been alot of problems with sblive, ViaHardware reported problems with it on the new Abit KR7A, also I've read of problems with it on the Soyo Dragon Plus, try different slots as a first step.

Hi folks, this sounds like a timing problem to me. Many of the new MOBOs run the PCI slots too fast for some PCI cards to handle. There are ways to make adjustments to this by using the Drivers/Utilities that go with the ChipSet that your MOBO has (VIA etc.). Most MOBOs come with a CD now or you could check it out on their website...
