Hey guys I've got a question. I got a new computer the other day with a soyo k7v dragon plus motherboard. when I got the comp it was dead. so I called tech support and they said the motherboard was bad and I'd have to get a new one. they also said that the soyo motherboard was shit and I shouldn't get it again. They recomended the asus. wich I new was good but it costed more. Well anyway after talking and ranting at them for a while I finnaly got them to send me the asus motherboard for free . So I'm getting it on friday, and I have to send the soyo back. well all they said is send the motherboard back, and the soyo comes with the extras. Like the smartcard reader, and the surround sound attachemnt.

So my question is will these work on the asus board. I'm pretty sure the smartcard reader/writer will. But I don't know about the sound attachment. wich has like optical inputs and out puts. I dunno what the asus board comes with but do I need it? will it work on it? just wonder its a 10pin cord wich looks like this on the end:
.....
.....

LOL

well thanks if anyone can help me

Nope they will not work, I have the Dragon Plus and just built the Asus for a friend, even tho it may look like the pins fit the order is different (wiring setup). But even as that goes everything is not perfect, We even had to send the ASUS back because it was DOA, it happens to all them. The Dragon Plus is an excellent board in my opinion............

Really the asus was DOA???!!! LOL thats insaine. I hear something different from everyone I talk to. I've heard tons good about the asus and soyo and I'm hearing bad about both. The soyo was doa, so I'll try the asus now LOL.

But I'm getting really confusied about the sound on the asus board. It says its 6-channel surround sound. But I don't see how. does it come with the extra card like the soyo does?

Sucks that the smart card reader doesn't work eather the soyo seems like a really good board. but the tech guy said he was getting problems with it all the time and wouldn't recomend getting it again. he said he could almost garenntie that I would have problems with it again. LOL

oh well....I guess I'll find out how the asus is

No it does not come with the additional add-in and cable, you only get whats on the board, I use my onboard sound, it sounds even better than my sb live I have. On the ASUS the input doubles as an output, so if you have an input you loose the 6 channel sound, but if no input then you can use the 6 channel
O and 1 other thing gotta call this evening looks like we gonna send the ASUS back again, used it for I nite went out of town, came back turned it on and nothing, although the power supply comes on and is good, everything checks out but the board, This is very unusual for ASUS.
My soyo has never given me any problems, SOYO was having trouble with the DRAGON but that was because VIA was having trouble with the 266 chipset, But when they replaced the 266 with the 266A it fixed the bugs and that is the Difference between the DRAGON and DRAGON PLUS.
I use SOYO, EPOX or ASUS generally, they all have glitches and some write better drivers than others. Just read the reviews and compare.
