When installing Mandrake did you install the development stuff?.

If you didn't then all you need to do is go to Software Manager via Control Center, and install the kernel sources (I think it is a package like linux-xxxxxx-mdk.i586.rpm. Just do a search for kernel.) That should sort vmware out.
