A teenager from Michigan, US, has made the one billionth iTunes download Coldplay's Speed of Sound and earned himself some fantastic prizes.
Alex Ostrovsky was downloading a selection of songs from the band's X&Y album has when he won a 20-inch iMac, 10 fifth-generation iPods and a $10,000 iTunes gift card. The lucky teen has also won a scholarship at the Juilliard School of Music, courtesy of Apple.
In a statement Apple CEO Steve Jobs said:
"Over one billion songs have now been legally
purchased and downloaded around the globe, representing a major force
against music piracy and the future of music distribution as we move
from CDs to the Internet."
The popularity of Apple's iTunes service continues to grow, as Apple add not only music but videos, short Disney and Pixar films, audiobooks and the web's latest breakthrough - podcasts.
