I?ve got a problem with my w2k3 server.
Every time I want to shut it down or restart it, it takes about 30 minutes to do so.
Performance of my hard drives is not as it used to be.
If I upload from a workstation to my server a file of 8GB takes more than 30 to 45 minutes.

I had problems with two promise Ultra133TX2 cards, so I removed them.
Problem still remains.

Any ideas?

My config:
Asus P4C800 DeLuxe
P4 2.8GHz/800
512Ram/400
5 IBM HD 120GB 2x Raid 1 (hardware) 3x Raid 5 (software)
W2003 Adv serv with Active dir, Exchange 2003.

I think the problem lies with exchange 2003. I recently installed it on my P4 2.53 machine and found that shutting down takes around 5 times longer than it did when running plain Win2K3. It takes around 8 minutes now to shut down and around 3 minutes to start up- as opposed to around 60 seconds to shut down and 30 seconds to start up.

Time to dig out MS Bootviz again

Yeah, i have a question. Since installing Exchange i havent been able to add users. It always says the passwords i am setting don't meet complexity or length requirements- even if i set a password of 26 characters using uppercase, lowercase and numbers in it!

I had the same problem.
You got to change the policy about that one.
I clould not find it because it is somwere deep in the system. I found the sollution in help.

goto start help & support and then fill in "password policy" in help topics click on number 4.
Now you will se how to configure you password policy.

Bootvis did not do a thing with my server.
Schutdown still takes 30-45 minutes
