Help!
My brother in law has a Dell Dimension XPS that gets blue sreens when he uses the Image disc from Dell to re-install. The dell does rad 0 or raid 1, but not both together. Does anyone know how to fix this? Dell is clueless on how to fix it and my brother in law does not want to have to pay for a xp disc from MS. he figures he has paid enough for the computer and wants to find a fix or a work around to resolve the issue.
Any suggestions?

Is this WinXP home or Pro? Dell tried to help him so he still has support on that system and they will not send him what's needed to fix his problem? Sounds strange.

Maybe I don't understand your question. Can you please give more information.

Image Disk? You mean like a sytem restore disk? To restore the computer like it was when he bought it?

Um I think that's a very bad idea. He should just install windows from strach.

Dell and every damn company out there filles their "system restore disk" with "crap".

My best friend bought a dell and we installed spybot search and destory and adware and ran a scan and found over 150 spyware. lol

We install both off a cd and never even got online. No other software. No settings cahnged nothing. Right out of the box. All we did was update both programs. Thats it.

Pretty sad. So I advise to reinstall window from a retail cd, etc.

And install everything u want after that your self.

But yea more tail about the situration would be a nice step forward.

If he paid for XP when he got the computer it may have come with the license key for XP in which case all he needs to do is find someone with a retail CD of XP and install from that CD and use the license he got from Dell to register the copy. They may abe able to provide him with the license key even if they didn't send it when he bough the machine...he just needs to call and ask for the key he paid for.
