HotRod is an unknown quantity at this point
Send a message via ICQ to HotRod
See if this helps

If You have: "auto-protect failed to load" - try this way >>>

Start regedit.exe.

Find: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\SAVRT

Change: C:\Program Files\Symantec AntiVirus\savrt.sys
to
\??\C:\Program Files\Symantec AntiVirus\savrt.sys

Find: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\SAVRTPEL

Change: C:\Program Files\Symantec AntiVirus\Savrtpel.sys
to
\??\C:\Program Files\Symantec AntiVirus\Savrtpel.sys

I am having a bit of difficulty with this one. I've installed SP2 RC1 (2096), then tried to install SAV 9.0. I am getting the same error messages, and these entries in my system log:

The SAVRTPEL service failed to start due to the following error:
The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.

The SAVRT service depends on the SAVRTPEL service which failed to start because of the following error:
The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.

I made the registry changes so that the value "ImagePath" under "SAVRT" and "SAVRTPEL" are "\??\C:\Program Files\Symantec AntiVirus\Savrtpel.sys" and "\??\C:\Program Files\Symantec AntiVirus\savrt.sys", including the quotes. Is this right? I still get the same error after a reboot.
