ive tried to get help from my provider so now i turn to the experts.:p
my dsl modem is connecting to the wan and it knows the connection is 640k down and 256k up and all that stuff but it cannot or will not connect in the PPP aspect. normally it does but today it decided it doesnt want to. it happens every now and then but the isp doesnt know whether it is my line their server of the modem. since it isnt getting assigned a ip address i'm thinking its their server because i can ping the modem. if ne1 has had simmilar problem and found a was to resolve the issue let me know. if it helps im running win2k behind a linksys router that does work fine and the modem is an Arescom(sp?). thanks guys ^_^ |
Hi Adodikin, I think the key here is your Linksys Router. Quite a few folks have these types of problems, depending on the methods your ISP uses. Check out the Forums on Linksys boxes at www.dslreports.com the answer likely can be found there.:)

well i would have thought it to be that it if it hadnt worked for two months. we trouble shooted and nothing is getting past the modem, plus it was overheating to 112F so it probably got fried. they are sending me another modem so hopefully that will fix the issue. and ill keep several fans on this one :p

the problem is microsh!t!!!
you have no ppp because of their server it IS their problem so sit back for about a week for them to fix it because that is how long it will take them to get around to it when i signed up for msn they sent me my modem and i followed their instructions and had no ppp, everything else i later found a board about msn trouble shooting and low and behold, 2 full pages of people having almost the same exact problems as i here is the site i think you will find the help you need pertaining to this issue www.dslreports.com/forum/msnetwork/ hope it helps just a foot note f@#k microshaft nutwork i'm going back to attbi |
such hostility but completely understandable. its working for me now so ill have to live with it since its my only high speed option and i refuse to go back to 56k
