OC256: 13.271 Gbps That is a shit load faster than only 923 megabits per second. That connection they are using is just over an OC12 but still not quite even an OC24 which is 1.244 Gbps. And you still have an OC48 @ 2.488 Gbps. So the fastest connection is an OC256. Public anyways. :P Anyways Clemson University is working on a connection that can download the complete Library of Congress faster then you can click your mouse (1 click...average a human being can click one time). Just the Printed collection of the U. S. Library of Congress is 10 Terabytes. That is 1,099,511,627,776 Bytes (8 bits). lol Now that is fast. However, one day you should be able to download a Yottabyte in less than a sec. That's 1,208,925,819,614,629,174,706,176 bytes. Thats around 10 E24. If you had a hard disk that could hold that much data it could contain these and a shit load more: 3 years of EOS data (2001) All U. S. academic research libraries 1995 production of hard-disk drives All printed material; 1995 production of digital magnetic tape All words ever spoken by human beings.
