I am a newbie to linux
I have installed Mandrake v8.2 several times and always the ISO CD no.2 (i,e Mandrake82-cd2-ext.i586.iso,already downloaded twice) give me errors Now I have 2 CD-2 ISO files with errors ? some of the required good files are ok on one of the ISO and vice versa I used WinISO to delete the files and added the extracted files from the other ISO..and successfully burn the CD no.2 I have tested/saved the ISO with options joliet or standard ISO on installation.. when asked for CD no.2 it would not recognised the CD ? but it will recognise the corrupted CD-2? Any suggestion to fix this ? or I have to download the CD-2 ISO again? I have a slow connection! Thank all helps and suggestion are most welcome Last edited by Jupiter2k at Today at 11:45 am |
You should check the MD5SUM for the ISO. Generally there is a file posted with the ISOs called MD5SUMS or something similar. You should download that along with an md5sum program such as md5summer (You should e able to find one on downloads.com). Then use the Program to check the md5sums. They should be the same as the one in the MD5SUMS file, if not the file is corrupt.
If the ISO is not corrupt, try burning the CD at slower speeds. If you do end up having to download the CD again, I suggest you wait for a little while for Mandrake 9.0 to come out. |
I downloaded thefiel again !
all setup and good as! |
Well done. I hope you have a good Linux experience.

But most of all, check out version 9 RC-2. I think it's really "cool" and illustrates where we are going. If the Linux distro people had someone with marketing imagination, Big Willie would be shaking in his boots.
