My screen turns pink every once and a while. Does that mean my video card is going bad or is it my monitor? thanks.

Pass!!!

Could be a number of things.

Any more clues?

When you degauss the monitor, does it go away?

10th Jul 01 12:49 PM

My personal guess is that it could be a combination of the two. I would lean more towards the monitor going bad because I don't know if I Video card would cause a PSOD(Pink Screen of Death)

Beta Spanky 10th Jul 01 12:50 PM

If that works, then make sure you don't have any speakers or anything magnetic around the monitor.

Generaly, speakers on either side of the monitor will do this.

Hi,

Just a hinch, DirectX. Saw that before on Win2K en Win95.

And for the gay monitor, so what? Let that monitor (like U should with people) have his/her sexual prefferences. It doesn't mind you hetro either!

Now I couldn't resist :D

Cheers,

Le Cactus

well it doesn't turn pink anymore, if i leave it on for a while with or without the screensaver the screen turns black. I move the mouse but it never returns to the desktop, i cant even see the mouse pointer. Yes the monitor is on too. So I think it is the video card.

What video card are you using and did you make any special tweaks to it lately?

adams 9th Aug 01 09:43 PM

I'm not having this problem anymore since i switched monitors, but thanks anyway for your effort.

I had this on an LG Studiowoks 56i. It was caused by the cable of the monitor getting crimped near the video socket. Try bending the cable about.

It might be bad soldering on the tubeboard.
The small print-plate at the back of the picture tube.
When it get's hot, the connection goes bad, and the colours will behave erratic.
And it may even go black..

If you know how to handle a soldering iron, try to resolder the board, if not, KEEP OFF !
