When I launch Drive Image 2002, and the computer starts to reboot, I get the Blue Screen of Death stating an error with usbstor.sys and usbohci.sys. I have xp sp1 1087 and that still did not resolve my problem.
What would be different in Drive Image 5 and 2002, as my v5.0 works fine? |
my drive image 2002 works fine under xp (build 2600)
|
wish i could help, but i had a problem with my MBR and drive image 2002 and winxp.
|
Never had anything other than excellent results my self, I've been using drive Image for quite a while now and have made and sucessfully restored many images. ;)

Are you using any USB devices in you system, like CD/HD ?
|
I do have a usb cd burner, camera, sandisk, and keyboard and mouse (I love usb). No problems with any of those devices, before and after install od DI2002. The only problem I have is when DI2002 goes to shutdown and reboot in Dos, it happens right before the shutdown occurs.....

Does Drive Image run ok if you use the diskettes? Drivfe Image 2002 runs with WinXP, but I did have a problem on a Toshiba Tecra 8000 laptop. Drive Image 2002 wouldn't start up from Windows--that is the boot image that the program installs on the hd wouldn't work. But using the boot disk and dos drive image diskette worked fine.

Looks like a DOS-driver-error  ( if I remember correct DI boots inrto a DOS environment ) Rremove all USB devices you dont need while running DI-2k2, then try again.. |
Yes, it works properly with floppies because if I am using the disks, I have to manually shutdown first, which causes no problems. The error occurs when DriveImage is attempting to do the shutdown it's self.
Why would the DriveImage shutdown process be different than manual shut down process? I don't want to have to unplug all my usb devices to use 2002. I have all the lastest drivers... |
Can't answer your question, but I could not get DI 2002 to run on that Tecra 8000. I upgraded it to a Satelite 5100 and it runs fine on it. No idea. Maybe you'll just have to got to using the diskettes.

pqdi.exe pqdi.ovl pqdi.pqg pqdi.rtc mouse.com mouse.ini - on it. All fits on one floppy. This lets you choose compression level also, like in old PQDI. (I use DR-DOS 7.0; nice & small - h**p://www.hellasystems.de/ftp/Utilities/BootDisk/DrDos70/drdflash.exe). Last edited by FrogBait4 at Aug 19 2002, 08:55 AM |

Well, do you have the latest DOS drivers for your USB equipment  ? Ohh, you don't ? :o Then I guess thats whats causing the error msg :P |
well, I want to have DI run every couple of nights, and I want it to run in the mioddle of the night. I do have the latest drivers, and I don't want to have to unplug stuff just to make an image.
I guess I will just stay with DI v.5.0 |

I only copy before questionable/major software addition...Like M$ upgrades... :D |
[Why would you want to copy entire drive every few days???]
Why? Why wouldn't I if I could? I guess you never lost all your files before. You never know when something like a virus will hit. Since it takes no brain power to run a scheduled task, and system resourses are at a minimum at 2 AM, I make an image every other day. It writes over the old image, so I never have an image older than 48 hours. Again, why wouldn't I do that? What good is an image that is old? |

*Only* thing on my C:/ drive is the bare O/S...All data files are on a 2nd HDD... ...Because I *have* lost HDDs, several of them... I can restore a bare O/S in an hour to my configuration. Or I can take an image made of my system before last software upgrade/install and restore/copy that. |
well, it seems 10x easier to schedule DI to backup to my second HD every 48 hours.
