Cute FTP seems to run great one day and like crap the next for me.

If the server allows, enable the noop commands etc to ensure you dont get the boot.

And for fun try leech ftp - I have never had a problem with it - its simple to use as well.

Hi trminatr, thanks for your prompt reply.
I will definitely give leech ftp a try.
btw, is there any ftp client that can connect to a ftp with port other than 21, if the client is sited behind a corp firewall ?
Thanks.

At my work, we have a FireWall, and a HTTP Proxy.
I use LeechFTP to get "out in the world", and home to my server :p
When I configure LeechFTP to use PASV mode and proxy ( with the correct HTTP proxy info added )
I have no problems accessing "strange" FTP server port's :D

Hi BearCat.
Thanks for your suggestion. But I still having problem connecting to ftp with port number other than 21, although I have selected Options -> Firewall -> PASV Mode.
Is there any other work around ?
I have switched to leech ftp.
Thanks.

Do you have a HTTP proxy ?
Enter proxy.adress.shit :port in the HTTP Proxy setup in LeechFTP,
and add the proxy checkmark to your bookmark.
Then try to togle PASV / PORT mode.
[b:7e248548ca]OR[/b:7e248548ca] if you have a Fireawall with User/Pass, enter THAT in the Firewall setting's.

Hi BearCat.
Thanks for so helpful.
I have entered the HTTP setting, as well as toggled between PASV/PORT mode, but still could not access ports other than 21.
I believed the corp. firewall is the culprit, but the sys ops do not want to unveil this info, what can I do now?
Thanks.

spyro......we are both in the same boat. At work , where I have access to a big pipe with T3 speeds, I am stuck with the firewall
at port 21.
I am told it is not that easy to re config these hardware firewalls. So in my case its install @home and download fom there. :(
