Camino :
Most of the serving user's DO have a dynamic IP.
Thats NO problem

Visit
H*tp://www.no-ip.com
H*tp://www.dns2go.com
just to mention a few FREE domain provider's, letting you download a
small client that update's their DNS with your current IP at regular basis.

Then U can host a server, using a domainname, ie myftp.isthebest.com

Yes,

BearCats solution is the best one with a dynamic ip.

If you require the software to serve, let us know and one of us will "hook u up"

So guys i am back with the next question.
I have gather some nfo about FTP sever software like G6, Serv-U and some others. And to tell you the truth it confused me a lot. The information on there mainsite isn't much a help for a newbie like me.

So...what's you advise, i need for now something simple to configure. And it helps me if somebody could provide me this proggy.

TIA Camino

Now here IS a dumb question..
If the server says "no hammering, set retry to > 60 secs" should I set 61 secs and number of retries to say 500! will this piss off the guy at the other end? Is this acceptable behavior? Or should I only retry say 20 times.

we ARE at the lowest level here....
Thanks
Ciao

Most people serving feel that 61 seconds is good for connection attempts. Generally try for 10-15 minutes, and if no success u can always try again later.

As for software, serv-u and bulletproof server software are both easy to set up.

If I remember correctly, that software comes with detailed instructions that go step by step to show you how to set up your server. And once u have done that, you can test the server by attempting to connect using a FTP client ie cuteftp or leech or whatever u prefer.

Serv-u can be downloaded directly from BearCat, or PM myself for Bulletproof if anyone wants to try it.
