Hi dudelive,

Dudelive, you may have seen the new announcement here on BetaONE about the new release of Ubuntu Linux. There are two free downloads on their site: the install disk and a Ubuntu Live disk that runs the distro from the CD.
It's a very slick easy system, tho when I installed the install disk on my Toshiba laptop (my test machine) it did not automatically bring up the MS network. Nor does it have a DVD/CD burn feature included, which Xandros does. This is a very nice distro and worth a litttle time to look it over. It's Debian. Perhaps the Enterpirse edition has the features I need (network and burner) Or maybe they can be installed from the web site--I haven't taken the time to check out the web site or it's forum. I'm going to clean it out tho and put Xandros 3.0 Deluxe back in |
Well! THings keep moving. I'm not inspired by Ubuntu, but I really get a kick out of the Live version of Linspire. Not a bad release and it mounts all the drives plus the MS network. I'm impressed. The "Live" version is a free download from Linspire or the bittorent link they give you.
