AFTER INTEL delivered its extraordinary set of earnings yesterday evening, it held a conference call with the usual gaggle of financial analysts.
None of them asked a single thing as far as we can make about leakage problems, or how well the Prescott was doing, but Paul Otellini talked about the tech anyway.
Essentially, he repeated what we?d heard earlier ? that Intel would sell some Prescotts during this financial quarter ? but he also took time out to say its 90 nanometer process was doing just fine.
And despite the scuttlebutt, we?re inclined to believe Intel on this point ? sources within the fabs claim that the process is OK. The problem is getting the Prescott to cool down, which is a related, but different problem.
While there?s plenty leaking out of Intel, we don?t think it?s the 90 nano process. Rather, we believe it?s cooking up some new chocolate chip to wow us with on the notebook front.
