Have u tried using PGP (Pretty Good Privacy) for encryption m8 ???

It lets you encrypt the files on the CD so they can not be copied. PGP is freeware but I do not know where to download it from.

Ill check for ya, here's a link to pgp

another thing you could do is put everything in a password protected zip file, then burn that zip to a cd

And then guess what happens. Zip becomes corrupted and your fucked. Happens to me all the time. Thats why I back up everything straight to another 80gb hard drive. Never get corrupted that way. Still have stuff from 1997 and its perfect yet shit I burnt three weeks ago is corrupted. Some files that is. Still a pain in the ass having to do it all over again. Exptionally if you have to re download everything and your on a 56K like more or the information is no longer available. So I would not recommend just burning a single zip file to a cd. Nor a rar file. They become corrupted just as easily.

might check out Password Protection System - CD Edition:
http://www.necrocosm.com/ppscd.html

Quote:
Password Protection System - CD Edition is a very powerful application for making your CDs secure. By password protecting any file and even giving it an expiration date, PPS-CD will allow you to distribute the CDs that you create without having to worry about unauthorized use! Whether it be for distributing software, movies, or sensitive documents within a business, PPS-CD will prove to be more than up to the task. Even dependencies such as .DLLs or Skins can be handled and registered if necessary

or this might be better:
http://www.cd-lock.com/

Quote:

CD-Lock secures your removable media by scrambling the filenames and encrypting all the files with Blowfish. Yet, just enter the password when the CD is inserted into any computer running Win2000 or XP and you can instantly use the files as you always haveš - without the need to decrypt them first.

read some very interesting posts...

just a side note from me: don't forget Nero Burning ROM also have Volume Expiration features. If you set that then the CD can only be read until that date.

CryptCD by TimeSave Software
Creates a password protected encrypted CD image, you burn with your burner software. Add files, configure a decoy setup screen so others think its just another install CD.

Run/view files right off the CD! decrpyted and run transparently - files removed automatically after your finished viewing them! Safe, portable way of backing up your private data... works on hard drive if you have no CD burner too.
