Up early cause i have to sleep all day, cause I work at night, and saw this on CNN:

Sign up beginning today for the national No Call Registry..
If you register today till the end of July then come october 1 it will be illegal for most tellamarketers to call you. You can register up to 3 numbers and you have to provide a valid email address. This IS a FREE service, so if someone wants you to pay it is a scam!!!!

Long-distance phone companies, charities, surveys and calls on behalf of politicians are exempt from the registry.

Run by the federal government. Hmm, I wonder how effective THAT will be

The companies that are exempt from the registry, really aren't. If you tell them not to call you, and they persist, they are also liable for that $11,000 fine too, according to the web site. It's about time too. I pay for my phone specifically for my private use. If they want to use my phone for their marketing purposes, they can also pay my bill every month!

Exempt means exempt. You know not of what you speak. People will have high hopes for this thing, but in a few months you'll all see this thing has more holes that swiss cheese! We've had a state no-call list in Minnesota since January and it's a joke. No call SHOULD mean NO CALL. None. Nada. Zero.

What seems too good to be true usually is.

Here is a cut and paste from the DONOTCALL.GOV site:

"but if you make a request to a specific organization that they not call you, they are required to honor your request. If they subsequently call you again, they may be subject to a fine of up to $11,000."

Apparently individual states' efforts didn't do much to stem the flow of crap to your phone. Hopefully the Fed government can do a better job. It all comes down to how much telemarketing SCUM contribute to political campaigns this year, we all know that!

i just pay a couple bucks extra on my phone bill to stop them...well worth it to me...just had it put on when i moved last week...went from 5-10 calls a day to wondering why i need a phone

(just calls from work or inlaws) hmmmm woonder if they can screen them out as well

I have caller ID and a Three Year old little girl who likes talking on the phone. So I just have her anwser it, It can be quite hurmorous at times. I sometime put her on the speaker phone (and at times it is all I can do but to LOLROTF) I think some off the telemarketer like talking to some one who is postive as well. (

BUT I am gonna sign up as well.
