Hi,

You will be getting a message box like the one in the attached jpg, if you try to shutdown or restart the computer while other users are logged in right? You will know this if you are using either Windows XP or 2003 Professional.

Any user can carelessly press simply YES and other users will lose their valuable data! Is there any reg setting where we can disable this feature? Thank you very much.

The following are the some similar security settings I have done up to now in my system, and would like to do the above as well.

Start > run > gpedit.msc > Lock taskbar > enabled
Local security policy > User rights management > Shut down the system > only administrators
Local security policy > Security options > Shutdown: allow system to be shut down without having to log on > disabled

Yours,
McoreD

There is no way I think but you can disable Fast User Switching. Here?s how:

Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
Click User Accounts.
Under Pick a task, click Change the way users log on or off.
On the Select logon and logoff options page, select the Use the Welcome screen and the Use Fast User Switching check boxes

Fast User Switching will not appear if it has not been turned on in User Accounts in Control Panel.
Fast User Switching is not available on computers that are members of a network domain.
Only users with a computer administrator account on a computer can turn on or turn off Fast User Switching.
Fast User Switching cannot be turned off while multiple users are logged on to the computer.
When Fast User Switching is not turned on, programs shut down when you log off, and the computer runs faster for the next user who logs on.
