I've lost the "tab" in the properties box for my cd burner..its an HP-CD Writer 9500b firmware 1.06 (no updates for this of course).

I have uninstalled all of my cd burning software, gone throught the entire registry, and deleted entries from them, uninstalled the drive via the device manager, restarted the "IMAPI" cd burning service, and rebooted, with no luck? anyone have a clue? Oh and yah I have all XP Pro updates from "windows update" as well...

Fireburner reported it a 4X burner when it's a 12X8X32 Burner

WTF?

Hi

In XP Pro Group Policy Editor, there is a setting that removes the burning tab for CD burners if it is enabled. Let me know and I will send you the location. (You can access the GP Editor from TweakUi. or a shortcutot to C:WINDOWSsystem32gpedit.msc

Can't help with wrong speed reporting. - sorry.

I need to know what motherboard you're using. I notice that if you have a motherboard that have onboard raid controller that can also be use as extra IDE channel for your IDE device, if you connect your IDE CDRW to the raid controller/IDE slot, winxp will only sees it as a SCSI cdrom. The solution for that is connect the CDRW to the regular IDE slot instead of the RAID/IDE slot. I hope this help.
