it all started yesterday morning with one small lighting strike i went to use my computer and it was totally dead.i checked all the obvious plugs and fuses etc.i stripped out the power supply and checked the fuse in there and that was ok but there was no power at all so is the motherboard dead? Now on putting it back together i accidently knocked the 110/230V switch to 110 and BANG! went the power supply complete with sparks. Now i know the psu is dead but would the motherboard also be dead. All i can say is thank god for house insurance!!

Hi andru, normally the power box will "Take the Hit" and the rest of the machine is ok. Seems you will need a new power unit anyway, so I would try replacing that, and see if the computer will run ok again...
