Not surprising. Seems to me if MS was more fair about thier licensing costs more people would simply purchase the software... and there would be less piracy.

A key code for installing Microsoft's Windows Server 2003 has leaked onto the Internet, a loss that could lead to widespread piracy of the software.

does anyone else find that sentence to be hilarious?

Tough! Maybe if they would charge a more reasonable and competitive price, their software would not be such a target. $179 for a PC operating system? Gotta be outta their minds! What, does Bill want to build another mansion? I think after Iraq, our next target should be Redmond, WA!

Its like anything else... tv for example... try to rob us we will simply find a way to rob you back. Over charge me for TV I buy a cracked converter. Same goes for operating systems. AND I am still wanting my refund for Windows ME Mr. Gates LOL

I just dont understand how overcharging for a bloated os (Since when does a server need half the crap it comes with) can compensate for the millions lost in potential revenue if the product was priced more fairly.

Funniest thing - I started my MCSE a year ago, and swore that MS was the os to use. Learned Linux a few weeks back, and I may just sway to the dark side...

Exactly. It will work for a few months and then be dead. They are not going to just let a leaked key get unlimited updates for the life of the OS, so what's the big deal about one key? I think if a gen came out like what there was for XP, then they are in trouble...

Who says Linux is the dark side?

you right terminatr. I've been installing each new Linux distro as it comes out and they are getting pretty good at doing work stations. I still think Xandros is the best for now. But, this time next year? Main thing is not many sexy proggie editors are writing for Linux. Serious lack of proggies in that domain. But then there is Win4Lin and VMWare.
