User rights management for Internet Connection

Hi,

Is it possible to prevent/allow users using an Internet Connection in Windows XP? I mean can we set a Dial Up Network account which is accessible for Administrators and not for Limited Users. etc?

Log in as an admin, create a dial up account and don't save the password is the easiest route

Oh I forgot to tell. My question is with saving the password, whether the connection can be treated as a file which is only accessible by Admins. Thanks for your reply.

Log in with the admin account, create a new dialup connection, when you get to the "Internet Account Information" screen un-check the box titled "Use This Account Name And Password When......... etc". Upon fifnishin the wizard the connection display properties will be displayed for the first time- make sure that the "ME Only" radio button is highlighted.

Only the admin account will have the user name and password stored.

I am sorry Reborn for my late reply.

I did the Me Only trick. But it doesn not share the connection at least with two admins. Once you establish a connection with that configuration and we switch user to the other admin account, then the connection terminates.

Btw Reborn I think there is no solution yet. We'll just assume it will come in the next versions of Windows.
Windows still needs to be developed. Thanks for your time.

start, run, gpedit.msc

under user configuration, go to administrative templates\network\network connections, and enable

If you enable this setting (and enable the "Enable Network Connections settings for Administrators" setting), double-clicking the icon has no effect, and the Connect and Disconnect menu items are disabled for all users (including administrators).

If you disable this setting or do not configure it, the Connect and Disconnect options for remote access connections are available to all users. Users can connect or disconnect a remote access connection by double-clicking the icon representing the connection, by right-clicking it, or by using the File menu.

then reboot, try that and see if it works for what you want

Conclusion: If anyone needs to avoid the internet connection been disconnected by limited users, then do what Sephiroth says above.
