SOMEONE PRESSED THE WRONG BUTTONS at Microsoft and made the latest version of Office available for a few hours. Not many people managed to download it but those beta testers that did were impressed at the improvements over beta 1. The testers who didn't manage to get there in time were less than happy.
The code for beta 2 of what will become Office 2003 was not meant to be released on the Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN) at all. Although reports have stated that the company locked down the development of the second beta some days ago, Microsoft had intended to send out the suite on CDROM in March rather than releasing it on the Net.
