Not sure what to say. I did a Google search for
asus a7v333 USB problem - came up with all kinds of answers/questions. too many to list. You might want to try that.

I have an Asus A7V8X mobo. 4 usb 2.0 ports on the back and 2 that can connect with jumpers to the front panel. The specs say 2 of the back ports are usb 2.0 and the other 2 are usb 1.1. Further the 2 on the mobo that have connectors for jumpers to the front panel are 2.0.

I have a Maxtor 120GB external 2.0 hd. If I connect it to any of the 4 ports on the back AOK. No sweat.

When I connected it to port 5 on the front panel it would restart every few minutes and say fast drive on a slow port. On port 6 it would not restart but would say fast drive on slow port. So, plugged it into the back. No problem.

Later I upgraded the bios and now it works on ports 5 and 6 without protest. No restarting. AOK.

I have another pc with an MSI ultra K-4 board and all the ports work as 2.0 and the external drive works ok.

A third pc is a Dell with P3 cpu. I have a usb 2.0 card in it and it functions fine on both ports with the external drive.

On my laptop--4th pc on the LAN, it simply says fast device on slow port--and that's true....!!!

Be sure and check to make sure Asus hasn't issued a new bios upgrade.

And....if you read the above. Even tho the specs that came with the board said of the 4 back end mounted ports: 2 are usb 2.0 and 2 are 1.1, it seems not to be true.

if its an ASUS board, i presume it has a VIA chipset, because of a "safety" feature if your device pulls more than xxxvolts or mVolts, i forget now. it turns off the port.

The solution is, go into the BIOS and change some settings, if u need them email me or PM me. I had the same problem with my ADSL modem and USB2 HD
