Greets all,
I know its been a LONG time since I have posted, but this time I thought I would have to post this as a warning so that All are aware of this, if they dont know already:
About a year ago when XP first came out, I made a stink over a open port which I found suspicious for XP, after further investigating, it was found that this port was deadly, and suggested it closed, only for 3 months later for a security firm to deem it a dangerous port, and should be closed. It went further to the FBI which also warned that MS's patch did not correctly close the hole and that it was still a dangerous target.
Well the reason I bring this up is cause after changing the key to a Enterprise Key, I noticed that Nero, for some ungodly reason is using the same port that a security firm and the FBI deemed unsafe.
Port 5000
So please becareful when and if you use the network burning feature, since Ahead seems not to be up to speed with using a volitale port.
I do not suggest to anyone to allow this port to be used, if you have not closed this port then I would suggest you go into your services and shutdown the service that does make this port open, which is:
Universal Plug and Play Device Host & SSDP Discovery Service.
Set them to disable.
Now to see why Nero would use this port.
