Hi,

I got this error today in Outlook Express SP1 in Windows XP SP1, when I added my Hotmail Account and trying to check emails.

This service does not currently work with Outlook Express

Configuration:
Account: McoreD
Server: http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp
User name: McoreD@hotmail.com
Protocol: HTTPMail
Port: 0
Secure(SSL): 0
Code: 80042007

I tried in another Hotmail account but the same error came. This is a 2-days old Windows XP installation and no settings are modofied. I wonder if M$ stopped this service like in Yahoo.

I tried both Hotmail and MSN just now. But I get the same error:
This service does not currently work with Outlook Express

May be it works for you because you created that account in Outlook Express before M$ stopped this service?

Just for the hell of it i created a new hotmail account to try it out for you. It works fine for me- created the account from scratch via the hotmail website and entered the details in Outlook Express on XP SP1. Still working

Try using your ISP's proxy server to make connection. My failed to since my firewall doesn't support the HTTP protocols hotmail/msn is using. I got the axect same error, and it solved it for me, since the connection to the proxy is plain gtml, instead of the more advance call M$ does.

Disable your FW for a (very) short period to see if your problem is caused by it.

Sorry to trouble you DoG.

@Le Cactus, I haven't installed a FireWall. I really dunno why this thing happens to me. It has never happened to me. I will continue my Outlook XP. Thanks guys for the replies. I will let you know when I get out this problem, one day.
