I never wanted to change that optioned since I installed Windows XP.
But today I had to, as I installed VMware Workstation 3.2.

Can anybody please tell me where is the Autorun notification on/off setting is in Windows XP?

Thanks in advance..

It's not in the usual placed as it was in Windows 98

Is this what you need?

HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Cdrom

Autorun

0=disable
1=enable

}---:?

That's right mate. But in Windows 98 there was an option to set it. A more n00b-friendly way. As far as I could remember, you just right click the CD ROM device in System Properties and there was that option in its Properties. But it is no longer there in Windows XP.

Thanks for this tip.
