Just a quick one here....Recently I had the USB and onboard LAN ports go on my boss' motherboard....

So I picked up a new board for it. All went well, everything works, camera, scanner, etc, except the printer. WinXP sees it as "unknown device" Win2K (on another comp) doesn't see it at all, and no matter what I do or how I install the drivers, it won't work. XP won't even install the USB printer port.

Now the question is...this printer was installed and working fine when the ports went on the old board...Is
it possible that when this happened, the USB port on the printer was damaged??? It's the only thing I can think of with the way it's acting....

Any ideas??

TIA

hmmmmm i was going to say it was xp, because xp seems to hate printers, but then you said you tryed it on a win2k box. So now I really don't know, I'd have to agree with you, it must be the printer. If you can I'd try it on a couple other computers, just too see if it works on them and if it doesn't I'd say its definatly the printer.

Thanx, I did just that...Have 4 comps in the house it wouldn't install on any (2-XP, 1-2K, 1-98)

Finally just told her the printer was bad and she went out at lunchtime and bought a new one (must be nice) and everything works fine now....

Just wondering now, did the board go and short out the printer?? or the other way around. Either way it all works now and my boss loves me for it

Thanx for the reply!
