Hya guys,

A little time ago I read somewhere that it's possible to run Mac OSX on a x86 based system. I believe it was done by VMWARE of VIRTUALPC.

Does anybody have any experience with that? How do I go about it, when all I have is an image (BC's house) from the OSX CD?

Any help much appreciated!

I dont think so... I cant imagine how... The *nix based of OSX is optimised to PowerPC processors. May be there is a way to emulate that processors on x86 but I think its a task very hard to do it. Anyway I will try to find some info (I was listen a comment like that sometime ago) I will post it.

TMK, there is no known way to emulate OSX on X86. If there is, I want to know about it! It is known that there is a version of OSX pigeon holed at Apple that runs on X86 architechture. They have been developing it since they first started coding on OSX. At this time they are not ready to release it nor will they acknowledge it is even there for the time being. Speculation is that they are waiting for Open Office to develop to the point that it can directly replace MS Office on OSX. Currently Apple relies on MS's office suit and if they change their business model now to directly compete with Microsoft [which they would be since they currently make most of their money on hardware not software] before Open Office is ready, MS will make MS Office on the OSX run horrible to protect their PC monopoly and nobody will want OSX. [MS can't just drop Office on OSX because of license agreements.]

Personally, I think OSX would be great on X86. It is just the kind of kick in the nuts Bill Gates needs to start taking things more seriously. At this rate, I don't think Apple will survive another 10 years, but if they get Open Office to replace MS Office on OSX, I think just from the sheer number of people willing to try OSX instead of Windows for a change, the monopoly that is MS might weaken. I like XP, but I'm cheering for Apple.

My financee wanted a Mac.. so, I need some "in detail" help, I got the OSX from BC's cave and I was wondering which program will extract the OSX to burn it into CD. I an having a very tough time placing it on a PC CD. (so far I burnt 9 CD's and it has gone to waste) so I would like to hear from you experts to please help me out how to burn into a Mac format CD? so I can start rebuilding my financee's "new" Macky thay she had from a flea market (she got a Power Mac 8300 with 256MB RAM for a whopping $50.00) Thats a good deal. Its currently running a OS7, however I plopped the new CD in and it keeps saying "invalid file" so any suggestions?? (I need to get it done to make her happy with her new Macky for her graphic programs she has been long waiting for)

Many help would be highly appreciated!

G'Day!

Try a rewritable, it'll gave you a second (and third, and fourth and so on) chance

Cyberion, what do you know about this all?

Interesting...!

But I will never use it too. And also MacOSX is still relying on IE. So they should get rid of that too. BTW, Apples are limited to their own Hardware and Software. Like people still don't like WMA I don't like to move to Apples either.

Apple is unlike Microsoft. It actually has GREAT information.

MacRumors.com's article
Code:

Mac Edition's article

The information is out there.

Oh.. if you download, from ANYWHERE, the OS 10 images. DO NOT MOUNT THEM. They have a device that knocks them out.

If more info is needed let me know.

Cheers,
Me.
