Here we go again galdarnit ... i checked office update today and found 2 new updates of office xp ... listed by update as sp2 Oct16, there is an update for Word (wrd1005) and one for excel (exc1003) ... office update told me i could not just download the updates and install them, but i need to do an administrative install.
Does that mean i have to create a new administrative install point (ie copy my officexpsp1sp2 slipstreamed cd back to my hard drive) and follow microsoft directions (*
http://support.microsoft.com/default...;en-us;Q329748) ... or is there an easier way????
This is a real pain if every update has to be done this way ... it maybe be easier to reinstall Office using my original disk then apply the updates manually and forget about slipstreaming cd's.
ANSWERING MY OWN QUESTION:
In following the links on the updates for more info (*
http://support.microsoft.com/default...;en-us;Q329748 & *
http://support.microsoft.com/default...;en-us;Q329750) there is the option to "click here to download the Client Update" ... clicking that will download the nonadmin update which will directly update word and excel without having to use admin install points ... whew ... but still a pain that I can't use automatic updates after installing from a slipstreamed cd.
