i have tried to find where to get rid of the 20% bandwidth that windows keeps in the qos package schedular but i am unable to remember where it was can you please tell me where to find it and how to disable it
I did a search on the board for you and found a link that took me to Neoseeker's Windows XP Tweaking Guide... Here is what you are looking for:
1. make sure your logged on as actually "Administrator". do not log on with any account that just has administrator privileges.
2. start - run - type gpedit.msc (not available in home version)
3. expand the "local computer policy" branch
4. expand the "administrative templates" branch
5. expand the "network branch"
6. Highlight the "QoS Packet Scheduler" in left window
7. in right window double click the "limit reservable bandwidth" setting
8. on setting tab check the "enabled" item
9.where it says "Bandwidth limit %" change it to read 0
Some say it works, while others say is doesn't... So who really knows? I ended up doing this tweak and I haven't noticed anything wrong, or anything better. So who really knows?
