when i had home installed i backed up my outlook express accounts now i have Pro when i went to put them back ( i used genie backup manager 2.0) it put my favourites and my address book back but not my messages from my inbox sent etc. I have extracted them to a folder on my desktop they are all dbx files can you tell me where to place them so that i can have them back in outlook express

If you look at -
Tools/Options/Maintence/Store Folder button in OE, you should find where they are. You can also change the location and put them somewhere else if you wish.

just a suggestion:
if u have Outlook, and u just use Outlook Express for Hotmail like me, OR you just use Outlook Express cos u like it even u have outlook, then try to export the Outlook Express emails to Outlook PST file for backing up purposes. I had the same problem with OE before, cos OE hasn't got a good email backing up feature

If you have all the .dbx files including the index files,
Open OE and go to:
File\import\messages
Point it at the folder location and it will import all the messages.
