unicorn is on a distinguished road
It's like asking what ftp-server is the best... or what editor is the one to go for...
I use Agnitum Outpost Pro and I like all the options you have to configure it for every and each app. Then it might not be the easiest one. Norton is often claimed to be easy to use but then a lot of people say it's hard to configure for special tasks (like running it in conjunction with a ftp-server at other ports than 21). ZoneAlarm is popular too. Choosing a free version of Kerio should give you a lot of bucks for the money.
Does this make any sense?

Kerio Personal firewall is the best way to go...and its free...after installing...check it at /www.grc.com using their sheilds up feature...

U can get Kerio at /www.kerio.com

I have tried almost all the rest...Norton, Zonealarm, Sygate Pro etc.

U won't regret it

I use Zone Alarm and have had no probs at all. Fairly easy to set up after first install. After that you just give permissions to the various programs as required. ...griz
