What i like to do is change the name to DVD Drive (D , CD-RW Drive (E

instead of the default name

CD Drive (D, CD Drive (E

so i know which is which.

I have tried
Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Computer Management - Disk Management

Please advice further...

Highlight drive you want to change in Disk Management, then right click and the option to change drive letter and paths should be available.

Before you try this make sure you are famaliar with editing your registry and back it up or create a restore point before you do this
Changing Drive Labels in Explorer (Windows XP, 2000, ME and 98)

Normally the Explorer shows drive labels as "Compact Disk", "Removable Disk" ect.

To change the name of this label for specific drives:

1. Start Regedit

2. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / SOFTWARE / Microsoft / Windows / CurrentVersion / Explorer

3. Create a key called DriveIcons

4. Within DriveIcons, create another key with the drive letter you want to change (i.e. D,E,F etc - type the drive letter ONLY)

5. Create another within the drive letter key called DefaultLabel

6. Give the Default Value for this key the label you want to
appear for that drive letter. (Jazz Drive etc.)

7. Restart the computer

I believe this is what you want to do??

On a more difficult scale questions is there a way to change the icon of the cd-rom/dvd/cdrw and hopefully xp will not change it back to the default?

thanks
