When we first looked at the performance of DDR3 memory with the release of the P35 chipset this past June, we were initially under-whelmed. At stock speeds at 1066 MHz, the advantages of DDR3 memory over current DDR2 memory platforms were miniscule and in some cases negative.
But the scene of the DDR3 memory market has quickly shifted and frequencies are going up and latencies are going down. Various high-end memory companies have started selling the kind of memory that might just make the enthusiasts suck it up and throw down money for it. Today I’ll look at a pair of kits submitted to me that both hit DDR3-1800 speeds from Corsair and Super Talent.
