TAIPEI: At a packed news conference here to raise the curtain on the Wikimania 2007 conference, little time passed before the issue of Chinese censorship of the site took center stage.
"Wikipedia is still blocked in mainland China," Jimmy Wales, a co-founder of Wikipedia, said Friday at the news conference when asked by a reporter about the issue. "Wikipedia is neutral, politically neutral, so we should not be blocked in China. It is a wonderful educational resource to help with economic growth."
