Canadian retailers have also been instructed by Sony to reduce the price of the 60GB PlayStation 3 to the price previously occupied by the 20GB version: $549 CAD. The $110 price drop means Canada will have the PS3 costing the same as the Xbox 360 Elite. It is unclear if Microsoft will change the pricing on its Xbox 360 Elite model in Canada to reflect the position of its U.S. counterpart. In the U.S., the Xbox 360 Elite sells for $20 less than the new PlayStation 3 price. The Canadian market benefits significantly less from the added 100GB from the Xbox 360 Elite's 120GB hard disk drive as there is no Xbox Live Marketplace for Xbox Live accounts in Canada.
